Burens

Burens refers to a type of traditional wooden dwelling found in parts of Eastern Europe, particularly in rural areas of countries like Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia. These structures are characterized by their construction using logs, typically squared or round, that are interlocked at the corners. The word "burens" itself often describes the entire log house or cabin.

The design of a buren is usually simple, often consisting of one or two rooms. Windows are typically small, and the roofs are commonly made of wood shingles or thatch. The construction method is a testament to the readily available timber in the region and the historical need for sturdy, insulated homes against harsh winters.

Over time, the appearance and construction of burens have evolved.
