Bulunacan

Bulunacan is commonly a misspelling of Bulacan, a province in the Philippines. Bulacan is located in the Central Luzon region, just north of Metro Manila. The provincial capital is Malolos, and the province forms part of the greater Manila metropolitan area’s hinterland. It is characterized by a mix of historical towns, agricultural land, and growing urban areas.

Historically, Bulacan played a significant role in the Philippine struggle for independence. The Barasoain Church in Malolos hosted events surrounding the drafting of the Malolos Constitution in 1898, an important milestone in the country’s transition toward a republic. The Biak-na-Bato National Historical Park in San Miguel commemorates a key revolutionary site and period. The province also contains numerous heritage churches and historic towns that reflect its long colonial and early Republican history.

Geography and economy are diverse. The landscape includes lowlands suitable for agriculture and foothills in some eastern areas. The Angat River and Angat Dam, located within the province, are important for water supply and hydroelectric power for the region. Bulacan’s economy is mixed, with agriculture producing rice, mangoes, coconuts, and sugarcane, alongside manufacturing and service industries. In recent decades, it has experienced rapid urbanization due to its proximity to Manila, supporting a growing local economy centered on trade, light industry, and logistics.

Demographics and transport infrastructure reflect its proximity to the capital region. Bulacan is one of the more populous provinces in the country, with towns and cities connected by major roads such as the MacArthur Highway and the North Luzon Expressway, facilitating movement to and from Metro Manila and northern Luzon.
