Bruttoendbetrag

Bruttoendbetrag is a German accounting term for the total amount that is payable or receivable on a transaction when calculated on a gross basis. It includes the base price and any value-added tax (VAT) or other taxes, along with additional charges such as shipping or handling, less any price adjustments that apply to the pre-tax amount. In many contexts it is synonymous with the final total shown on an invoice, the amount the customer must pay.

In practical invoicing, the Bruttoendbetrag is the result of adding the nettobetrag (the pre-tax price) and the tax amount, plus any additional fees, and then applying any applicable discounts or rebates to the pre-tax price as appropriate. Discounts typically reduce the tax base, so the Bruttoendbetrag reflects the discounted price after tax where tax is calculated on the reduced base. This final figure is often labeled on invoices as Bruttobetrag, Endbetrag or Gesamtbetrag, depending on company practice.

The term is widely used in German-speaking countries, including Germany, Austria, and parts of Switzerland, and appears in commercial law, retail, and invoicing. Because specific labeling can vary by company or software, the exact terminology may differ even when the underlying concept— the total amount due including taxes and charges—remains the same.
