Brückenkran

A Brückenkran, often translated as bridge crane or overhead crane, is a type of crane found in industrial settings. It consists of a bridge that spans across an elevated runway, allowing the crane to move horizontally along its length. A hoist or trolley is suspended from the bridge and travels on the runway, providing the vertical lifting and horizontal movement of the load within the bridge's span. These cranes are essential for material handling in factories, warehouses, and workshops, facilitating the movement of heavy components, raw materials, and finished products.

The design of a Brückenkran can vary depending on its application. Single girder cranes, with a single main bridge beam, are typically used for lighter loads and less demanding applications. Double girder cranes, featuring two parallel main bridge beams, are designed for heavier lifting capacities and offer greater stability. The bridge itself is usually supported by end trucks, which run on elevated rails. The runway can be integrated into the building structure or be a separate free-standing system.

Brückenkrane are powered by electric motors, providing precise control over lifting, lowering, and traversing movements. They are operated either from a pendant control station, a remote control, or a crane cabin. Safety features are paramount and include overload protection, limit switches, and emergency stop buttons.
