Bovenlichten

Bovenlichten, also known as transom windows, are small windows placed above a larger door or window. They are typically rectangular but can also be found in other shapes, such as arched or circular. Historically, bovenlichten served several practical purposes. They allowed for ventilation by letting in fresh air without compromising privacy or security. In addition, they provided natural light to the interior spaces.
