Bosporan
The Bosporan, or the Kingdom of the Bosporus, was an ancient Hellenistic kingdom located on the eastern shores of the Cimmerian Bosporus, centered at Pantikapaion (the site of present-day Kerch). It emerged in the 5th century BC as Greek colonists consolidated several coastal settlements around the western Black Sea and established a ruling house known as the Spartocids, who maintained the throne for many generations. The kingdom represented a fusion of Greek urban culture with steppe influences and served as a key cultural and commercial bridge between the Greek world and the Eurasian steppes.
