Borstenband
Borstenband, also known as Bristle Band, is a decorative and functional trim commonly found on certain types of upholstery and sewing projects. It is characterized by a band of stiff, upright bristles, typically made from synthetic or natural fibers, attached to a fabric backing. The primary purpose of borstenband is to provide a visual accent and a subtle textural contrast. It can be applied to the edges of cushions, along the seams of upholstered furniture, or as a decorative element on curtains and draperies. The bristles are usually short and densely packed, creating a firm yet flexible edge. In some applications, the borstenband may also serve a practical purpose by preventing dust or debris from accumulating in crevices. Its appearance can range from subtle and understated to more elaborate, depending on the color, length, and density of the bristles. The application of borstenband often requires careful stitching to ensure it lies flat and adheres securely to the base material.
