BorkouEnnediTama
BorkouEnnediTama is a large administrative region in northern Chad. It was created in 2008 by dividing the former Borkou-Ennedi-Tibesti Prefecture into three separate regions: Borkou, Ennedi-Ouest, and Ennedi-Est. The current administrative structure, however, re-established a consolidated region named BorkouEnnediTama. This vast territory is characterized by arid and semi-arid desert landscapes, including the iconic Ennedi Plateau, known for its unique rock formations and ancient rock art.
The region is sparsely populated, with nomadic and semi-nomadic communities forming the majority of its inhabitants.
Historically, BorkouEnnediTama has been a transit route for trans-Saharan trade and a region of strategic importance.
