EnnediOuest

EnnediOuest is one of the 68 departments of Chad, located in the Ennedi-Est Region. Its capital is Am-Djarass. The department is situated in the eastern part of the country, in the Sahara Desert. The landscape is characterized by vast arid plains, rocky outcrops, and sand dunes. The Ennedi Plateau, a significant geological formation, extends into this region.

The population of EnnediOuest is predominantly composed of nomadic and semi-nomadic pastoralist communities, with significant ethnic groups including the Toubou and the Zaghawa. Their livelihoods are largely dependent on livestock herding, particularly of camels and goats, adapted to the harsh desert environment. Water sources are scarce and often found in wadis and small oases.

The economy of EnnediOuest is primarily subsistence-based. Trade, often informal, plays a role in local economies. The region has limited infrastructure, with roads being primarily tracks. Access to services such as healthcare and education is challenging for many residents due to the vast distances and nomadic lifestyles.
