Biståndsaktørene

Biståndsaktörerna, often translated as "development actors" or "humanitarian actors," refers to the various organizations and individuals involved in international development cooperation and humanitarian assistance. This broad category encompasses a diverse range of entities, each with distinct mandates, funding sources, and operational approaches.

Government agencies, both national and international, form a significant part of the biståndsaktörerna landscape. Bilateral aid agencies, such as Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) or USAID (United States Agency for International Development), provide assistance directly from one country to another. Multilateral organizations, like the United Nations agencies (UNDP, UNICEF, UNHCR) and the World Bank, coordinate and implement development programs on a global scale, often funded by member states.

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) represent another crucial segment. These can range from large international NGOs like Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) or Oxfam, which implement projects in numerous countries, to smaller, local NGOs deeply embedded within specific communities.
