Biosolidy

Biosolidy are the nutrient-rich organic matter recovered during the treatment of sewage or other wastewater. These materials are a byproduct of municipal wastewater treatment plants and are generated after solids are separated from the liquid wastewater and then stabilized through processes such as anaerobic digestion or aerobic digestion. The stabilization process reduces pathogens and odorous compounds, making the biosolidy safer for handling and beneficial reuse.

Biosolidy can be a valuable resource due to their high content of organic matter and essential plant nutrients, particularly nitrogen and phosphorus. Consequently, they are often applied to agricultural land as a fertilizer or soil conditioner, helping to improve soil structure, water retention, and fertility. This practice is known as land application. Biosolidy can also be used in other applications such as land reclamation, landscaping, and for the production of biogas through anaerobic digestion, which can then be used as a renewable energy source.
