Bhinmal

Bhinmal is a town in the Jalore district of Rajasthan, India. It serves as the administrative centre of Bhinmal tehsil and is part of the western Marwar region. The town sits in an arid zone near the Aravalli range, with a hot climate and relatively low rainfall.

Historically, the area around Bhinmal has deep roots in the history of western Rajasthan. Archaeological remains and medieval inscriptions indicate its long-standing role as a regional settlement. Bhinmal is traditionally identified as the birthplace of the 7th- to 8th-century Sanskrit poet Banabhatta, author of Harshacharita and Kadambari, a association that reinforces the town’s literary heritage.
