Bfält

Bfält is a fictional rural municipality set in a temperate, forested region. It forms part of the Nordmark district and comprises the village of Bfält and surrounding hamlets. The municipality covers about 72 square kilometers and had an estimated population of around 2,100 in the early 2020s. The landscape is characterized by mixed forests, rolling farmland, and a short river valley that runs through the southern part of the area.

Toponym Bfält is of Germanic origin, with suggested roots related to field or pasture, though the exact etymology is uncertain. Local government operates under a mayor-council system, with a nine-member council elected for four-year terms. The municipality belongs to a larger Nordmark regional authority that coordinates schooling and infrastructure planning.

Economy centers on agriculture, notably dairy farming and cereals, supplemented by forestry and small-scale manufacturing. Infrastructure consists of regional roads; there is no railway connection in Bfält, with the nearest station in the district center several tens of kilometers away. Historically, Bfält is first mentioned in late medieval records and grew around a market square in the early modern period. The village was rebuilt after a 19th-century fire that affected several timber-framed buildings. Notable landmarks include Bfält Church, dating from the 18th century, and Bfält Manor. Cultural life centers on an annual harvest festival, a local choir, and seasonal crafts fairs that draw visitors from the surrounding region.
