Beteiligte

Beteiligte is a German term that designates persons or entities that participate in, or are affected by, a process, decision, or event. In everyday language it is often translated as “involved parties” or “stakeholders.” The term is used across legal, administrative, business, and organizational contexts to identify those who have an interest in the matter and who may be entitled to take part in proceedings or discussions.

In the legal system, Beteiligte is a broad category that includes the parties to a case, such as plaintiffs and defendants, as well as third parties who have a recognized interest, witnesses, or experts who participate in hearings. In civil procedure, the Parteien are a subset of the Beteiligten; other individuals or groups may be admitted as Nebenbeteiligte or Dritte Beteiligte depending on the jurisdiction and procedural rules.

In organizational or project contexts, Beteiligte refers to stakeholders: employees, customers, suppliers, shareholders, local communities, authorities, and partners. A stakeholder analysis is often used to map their interests, influence, and involvement to inform planning and risk management.

Rights and obligations of Beteiligte vary by context but commonly include rights to be informed, to present evidence or arguments, to access relevant documents, and to challenge decisions. In many procedures, Beteiligte must be consulted or heard before a final decision is made, and some may have the right to appeal.
