Besount

Besount is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of south-eastern France. It is situated approximately 5 kilometers west of the town of Annecy.

In 1863, the commune of Gastier was merged into Besount. As of the 2014 census, Besount has a total population of 249 residents, spread across 6.67 square kilometers of land area. The commune is predominantly rural in nature, with a few scattered homes and farms.

The commune of Besount is nestled in the mountains near the Grande Chartreuse National Park. A small river flows through the commune, providing a habitat for local wildlife and vegetation. The area is generally mountainous, with steep slopes and rocky outcrops.
