Bereb

Bereb is a small island located in the Balaibah archipelago, which is part of the Maldives. The island is situated in the central part of the Indian Ocean, approximately 300 kilometers southwest of the capital city, Malé.

Bereb is a coral island, characterized by a narrow and sandy beach, and a relatively flat interior. The island is approximately 1.4 kilometers in length and 300 meters in width. The terrain is generally flat, with the highest point being just above sea level.

The island of Bereb has a small and transient population, mostly comprising fishermen and individuals employed in the tourist industry. The island has limited infrastructure, with basic amenities such as a dock and a small shop.

Bereb is a popular destination for scuba diving and snorkeling, due to its rich and diverse marine life. The island's coral reefs and crystal-clear waters support a multitude of fish species, including manta rays and whale sharks. The island's remote location also makes it an ideal spot for spotting sea turtles and other marine creatures.

Despite its small and secluded nature, Bereb has a historical significance, having been part of the ancient Thiladhummathi Maldives kingdom. Today, the island is minimally developed and is largely accessible only by boat.
