Benzoheterocycles

Benzoheterocycles are a class of organic compounds that contain a fused ring system. This system consists of a benzene ring fused to at least one heterocyclic ring. A heterocyclic ring is a cyclic compound that has atoms of at least two different elements in its ring. In benzoheterocycles, one of these elements is always carbon, and the other is a heteroatom, most commonly nitrogen, oxygen, or sulfur.

The fusion can occur in various ways, leading to a diverse range of structures. For example, a benzene ring can be fused to a five-membered ring containing nitrogen to form an indole or a benzimidazole.
