Bensberg

Bensberg is a district of Bergisch Gladbach, a city in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis (Bergisches Land region) in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Located in the western part of Bergisch Gladbach, Bensberg is situated on a hill overlooking the surrounding countryside. It was an independent town until 1975 when it was incorporated into Bergisch Gladbach as part of a municipal reform.

Historically, Bensberg developed around Bensberg Castle (Schloss Bensberg), a Baroque palace built in the early 17th century. The castle has undergone several transformations and is now a luxury hotel. The area's economy has traditionally been linked to mining, particularly lead and zinc, with remnants of this industrial past still visible.

Today, Bensberg is a residential area with a mix of housing, businesses, and green spaces. It retains a distinct town center with shops, restaurants, and services. The district offers good transport connections to other parts of Bergisch Gladbach and the wider Cologne metropolitan area.
