Benresorptionen
Benresorptionen, also known as bone resorption, is a physiological process by which bone tissue is broken down and absorbed into the bloodstream. This process is essential for maintaining bone health, as it allows for the removal of old or damaged bone and the release of minerals, primarily calcium and phosphate, into the body. Bone resorption is carried out by specialized cells called osteoclasts. These cells originate from hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow and are characterized by their large size and multiple nuclei. Osteoclasts attach to the bone surface and secrete acids and enzymes that dissolve the mineral and organic matrix of the bone.
This continuous cycle of bone resorption and formation, known as bone remodeling, is crucial for adapting bone
