Bengarve

Bengarve is a village and civil parish in the rural county of Northmere in the country of Eldoria. It sits on the eastern slopes of the Senglow Hills, about 25 kilometers from the coast. The population is around 1,100.

The name Bengarve first appears in medieval charters of the 12th century; the toponym is thought to combine Old Norse and Gaelic elements, referring to a hill feature. The area shows evidence of Iron Age settlement, and a manor is documented from the 13th century. The parish church dates to around 1160, and a nearby railway line passed through the area in the 19th century, contributing to some local growth.

Economy and geography: Bengarve lies in a predominantly agricultural region, with dairy farming and small-scale craftsmanship forming the core of the local economy. The surrounding countryside offers hill walks and scenic views, drawing a limited but steady amount of tourism.

Landmarks: The parish church of St. Mary’s (12th century) is a central historic structure. Nearby are the ruins of Bengarve Abbey (14th century) and the Eastfield Windmill, an 18th-century milling site that has been partially restored for visitors.

Governance and transport: Bengarve is governed at the parish level by the Bengarve Parish Council and at the district level by Northmere District Council. Road connections link the village to larger towns via the A41 corridor, with regular local bus services; the nearest railway station is at Ravendale, about 15–20 kilometers away.
