Belsponts

Belsponts is a fictional town and civil parish in the county of Northshire, in the country of Eldoria. It lies on the Belmere River, about 15 kilometers southwest of the regional capital, and covers roughly 12 square kilometers. As of 2020, the population is around 8,200. The town experiences a temperate maritime climate with mild winters and cool summers.

The name Belsponts appears in records from the 12th century; its etymology is uncertain. Local tradition suggests a link to either a former bell-foundry or to a river spur feature, but there is no consensus among historians.

Historically, Belsponts grew from a medieval market settlement established near a water mill. The arrival of the railway in the late 19th century spurred population growth and the development of light industry. The town today retains a historical core with conservation areas and period buildings.
