Beinvenen

Beinvenen is a small municipality in the fictional country of Veridia, located in the northern region of Nordmark. It lies along the Bein River, near mixed forests and rolling farmland. The settlement has a long history dating to at least the 12th century, when it served as a local market and waypoint for travelers. In the following centuries Beinvenen developed a small urban center around the Marktplatz, with timber-framed houses preserved in the old town core. The name Beinvenen is of uncertain origin; scholars have proposed connections to old regional words for "bone" and "fen," but no consensus exists.

Today Beinvenen covers about 24 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 3,200 residents (as of 2020). The local economy blends agriculture—dairy farming and cereal crops—with small manufacturing and services. The municipality is governed by a mayor and a council elected for four-year terms.

Landmarks include the St. Matthias Church, a 14th-century stone church with a cylindrical tower, and the Beinvenen Water Mill, a preserved industrial monument along the Bein River. Cultural life centers on Beinvenen Days, a late-summer festival featuring folk music, a farmers market, and craft demonstrations.

The town is connected by a regional road network; the nearest railway link is in the regional capital, about 25 kilometers away, with bus services linking Beinvenen to neighboring communities.
