Beilis
Beilis, also known as the Beilis Affair, refers to a notorious blood libel accusation in Kiev in 1911. Mendel Beilis, a Jewish factory superintendent, was accused of murdering a Christian boy, Andrei Yushchinsky, and using his blood for ritual purposes. The case quickly escalated into a major international scandal, highlighting the persistent antisemitism prevalent in the Russian Empire.
