Bayleyskalaen
Bayleyskalaen is a mountain range on the western peninsula of the fictional island of Bayleysland in the Nordmark region. The range extends roughly 120 kilometers in a north-south orientation, featuring rugged summits and deep glacial valleys. The highest peak is Mount Vardrind, rising to about 2,480 meters above sea level. The range acts as a natural barrier between inland basins and the coast, influencing local weather and watershed patterns.
Etymology: The name combines the island’s name with an Old Norse-derived element skal (or skalr) meaning cliff
Geology and climate: The range is mainly composed of metamorphic rocks such as gneiss and granite, sculpted
Biodiversity and protected status: Foothill zones host mixed forests that transition to subalpine heath and alpine
