BOMmanagement, also known as Bill of Materials management, is the process of creating, maintaining, and using a structured list of all the components, sub-assemblies, and raw materials required to manufacture a product. It serves as the central document for product definition, enabling accurate costing, efficient procurement, and reliable production. A BOM typically includes item numbers, descriptions, quantities, units of measure, and sometimes engineering change levels or effectivity dates. Effective BOMmanagement is crucial for industries like manufacturing, engineering, and construction, where product complexity and the need for precise material tracking are high.

The primary objective of BOMmanagement is to ensure that the correct parts are used in the right quantities at the right time.
