BMWs

BMW, short for Bayerische Motoren Werke, is a German multinational automobile manufacturer headquartered in Munich. The company was founded in 1916 to build aircraft engines and later shifted to motorcycles and automobiles. After World War I, restrictions on aircraft production led BMW to focus on motorcycles from 1923 and cars from 1928. The BMW Group now also owns the MINI brand and the Rolls-Royce brand under a global corporate umbrella.

BMW designs and manufactures a range of premium vehicles known for performance and handling. Core models include the 3 Series, 5 Series, and 7 Series sedans; the X family of sport-utility vehicles; and the high-performance M variants. In recent years, the company has expanded into electrification with the i sub-brand, offering fully electric and plug-in hybrid models such as the i3, i4, and iX, alongside hybrid and petrol variants across its lineup.

Technically, BMW utilizes several modular platforms, including the CLAR architecture, to support rear- or all-wheel-drive configurations and scalable electrification. The brand has a long-standing association with “sheer driving pleasure,” emphasizing balance between ride comfort, steering feel, and engine response. BMW competes in the premium segment with rivals such as Mercedes-Benz and Audi and maintains a global manufacturing and dealer network. The company continues to invest in technology, including efficiency improvements, advanced driver-assistance systems, and electrified propulsion, while maintaining a focus on driver engagement.
