Aveid

Aveid is a coastal city-state and regional capital located on the eastern shore of the Eastmere archipelago in the fictional continent of Dyrn. With a natural harbor and extensive stone fortifications, Aveid serves as a commercial and administrative center for about 120,000 residents.

The name Aveid is believed to derive from the Ave language for “seaborne.” The settlement began as a fishing outpost in the 9th century and grew into a regional hub after a treaty in the 12th century that granted it autonomy from neighboring realms.

Aveid operates under a constitutional city-state framework. Legislative power rests with a bicameral council composed of merchant delegates and residents, while executive authority is vested in a mayor elected to a four-year term. The city maintains autonomous control over its budget and police powers.

The economy blends traditional sectors—fishing, shipbuilding, and port services—with modern finance, logistics, and digital services. The city hosts a diverse population, with residents from inland communities and island territories, and a significant immigrant community contributing to its cultural mix.
