Avago

Avago Technologies Limited, commonly known as Avago, was a semiconductor company formed in 2005 as a spin-off of Agilent Technologies' semiconductor operations. The company focused on analog, mixed-signal, and optoelectronic components and offered a broad portfolio that included high-speed data communication ICs, sensors, LED driver ICs, optocouplers, and fiber-optic components. Avago served multiple sectors, including data communications, networking, wireless, consumer electronics, automotive, and industrial markets. Its strategy emphasized expanding product breadth through acquisitions and internal development to provide integrated solution sets for original equipment manufacturers and system developers.

Over its history, Avago grew through the consolidation of various semiconductor businesses and technologies, broadening its presence in both developed and emerging markets. The company earned recognition for its optoelectronics and high-performance analog offerings, which complemented customers across communications infrastructure, enterprise networks, and consumer applications.

In 2016, Avago Technologies completed a merger with Broadcom Corporation. The combined entity adopted the Broadcom name and became Broadcom Inc., continuing to operate as a major supplier of semiconductor solutions. As a result, Avago ceased to exist as an independent brand, though its technology and product lines persisted within the merged company’s portfolio.
