Auditejas

Auditejas are a traditional Lithuanian folk dance performed by men, typically in groups of six to twelve participants. The dance is characterized by its energetic and rhythmic movements, often accompanied by lively folk music played on instruments such as the *akordeonas* (accordion), *dudoklis* (bagpipe), and drums. Auditejas are commonly performed during festivals, weddings, and other celebrations, particularly in rural areas of Lithuania.

The name "auditejas" comes from the Lithuanian word *audėti*, meaning "to dance," and the suffix *-ejas*, which denotes a person engaged in an activity. The dance itself involves a series of coordinated steps, jumps, and spins, often synchronized with the music’s tempo. Participants usually wear traditional Lithuanian attire, including embroidered shirts, vests, and wide-legged trousers, sometimes paired with decorative sashes or belts.

Auditejas are distinct from other Lithuanian folk dances, such as the *dainava* or *šokis*, due to their dynamic and sometimes acrobatic nature. They are often performed in a circle or line formation, with dancers moving in unison to showcase strength, agility, and group coordination.
