AuditEvidenz

AuditEvidenz is a framework and, in some implementations, a software platform that standardizes the collection, validation, and retention of audit evidence across financial, operational, and IT audits. It aims to improve traceability, accuracy, and efficiency by organizing diverse artefacts—such as transaction records, system logs, attestations, interviews, and test procedures—within a unified evidence catalog.

It incorporates metadata schemas, cryptographic integrity checks (hashing and digital signatures), and an append-only storage model to protect against tampering and to enable reproducible audits. Evidence items carry version history, time stamps, authorship, and access controls.

It supports end-to-end workflows from evidence capture and validation to attestation and reporting. It emphasizes role-based access, chain-of-custody, and retention policies, with auditable activity logs.

Uses include statutory audits, internal control reviews, risk assessments, and compliance programs, aligning to standards such as ISAE 3000, SSAE 18, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 as appropriate. It often integrates with ERP systems, GRC platforms, SIEM tools, and document repositories, and can export to common formats and data models (PDF, CSV, XBRL).

Adoption challenges include integration complexity, data privacy concerns, and the need for governance; benefits include faster evidence retrieval, improved reproducibility, and stronger defense against manipulation.
