More sophisticated models include linear attribution, which distributes credit evenly across all touchpoints, and time-decay attribution, which gives more credit to touchpoints closer to the conversion. Position-based attribution, also known as U-shaped attribution, typically assigns more credit to the first and last touchpoints, with the remaining credit distributed among the middle touchpoints. Data-driven attribution, often considered the most advanced, uses machine learning algorithms to analyze all available data and determine the optimal credit distribution based on actual impact.
