Attachmate Corporation was a software company specializing in enterprise middleware, terminal emulation, and secure remote access solutions. Founded in 1984, the company gained a significant market presence by providing tools that allowed mainframe and midrange computer systems to connect with personal computers and modern networks.

Their flagship product, the Attachmate Extra! terminal emulator, was widely used in various industries, including finance, government, and healthcare, to access legacy applications running on IBM mainframes and AS/400 systems. This software enabled users to interact with these powerful but often outdated systems from their desktop computers, facilitating data access and business process continuity.
