Atlus

Atlus Co., Ltd., commonly referred to as Atlus, is a Japanese video game developer, publisher, and distributor based in Tokyo. The company is best known for its RPG franchises Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, which have been influential in Japanese role-playing games and have found success in international markets. Atlus develops and publishes titles across consoles and PC, often featuring distinctive demon recruitment systems, social simulation elements, and strong narrative choices.

Founded in 1986 in Tokyo, Atlus released several RPGs across multiple platforms and expanded its presence internationally through local subsidiaries and publishing arms, including Atlus U.S.A., Inc. in North America.

In 2013, Sega Sammy Holdings acquired Atlus, and Atlus has since operated as a subsidiary of Sega. The acquisition expanded the distribution network and resources for Atlus titles while preserving the company's focus on niche RPGs and story-driven games.

Notable releases from Atlus include the Shin Megami Tensei series, with Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne and its remaster, as well as the Persona sub-series, notably Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4, and Persona 5 (and later remasters and ports). Catherine (a puzzle-platformer with adult themes) is another well-known Atlus title. The company has continued to publish both new entries and remakes on modern platforms, and has released PC versions of several titles to reach broader audiences.
