Arsénico

Arsénico is the Spanish word for arsenic, a chemical element with the symbol As and atomic number 33. It is a metalloid, meaning it has properties of both metals and nonmetals. Arsenic is found naturally in the Earth's crust and is present in soil, water, and air, although typically in very low concentrations. It exists in various forms, including white, gray, and black arsenic.

Arsenic has a long history of use and exposure. Historically, it was employed in pesticides, wood preservatives, and even some medicines. However, its toxicity has led to significant restrictions on its use in many applications. Arsenic is highly toxic to humans and animals, even at low doses, and chronic exposure can lead to a range of health problems, including skin lesions, cardiovascular disease, neurological damage, and various types of cancer.

The primary route of human exposure to arsenic is through contaminated drinking water, especially in regions with high natural arsenic levels in groundwater.
