Armwrestling
Armwrestling is a strength sport involving two participants who attempt to pin the other's hand down onto a table. Each participant places one elbow on a padded elbow rest on the table, with their hand grasped across the table from their opponent. The goal is to use superior strength and technique to force the opponent's hand down to the finishing pad. Competitions are typically divided by weight class and sometimes by age and gender. Professional and amateur leagues exist globally, with major international tournaments held annually. The sport requires significant upper body strength, particularly in the forearm, bicep, shoulder, and back muscles. Technique plays a crucial role, with various moves and strategies employed by experienced armwrestlers. The competition is usually officiated by a referee who ensures fair play and signals the start and end of each match. Safety is a consideration, with rules in place to prevent injuries. Events are often fast-paced, with matches lasting only a few seconds.
