Arengutegur

Arengutegur, also known as the "Arengu Tegu," is a species of lizard native to the island of Arengu in the Pacific Ocean. It is a medium-sized lizard, typically measuring around 15-20 centimeters in length, with a distinctive pattern of dark spots on a light brown background. The Arengutegur is primarily herbivorous, feeding on a variety of plants and fruits found on the island. It is known for its agility and ability to climb trees, making it an important part of the island's ecosystem.

The Arengutegur is a diurnal species, meaning it is active during the day. It is a solitary animal, except during the breeding season when males may gather in groups. The breeding season occurs annually, typically between the months of October and December. The female lays a clutch of 2-4 eggs, which she buries in the sand. The eggs hatch after approximately 3 months, and the young lizards are independent from birth.

The Arengutegur is currently listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List, primarily due to its wide distribution and relatively stable population. However, habitat loss and degradation due to human activities pose a potential threat to the species. Conservation efforts are underway to protect the island's natural habitats and ensure the long-term survival of the Arengutegur.
