Arealenheter

Arealenheter are units used to express the size of a two-dimensional area in land and property contexts. In Norwegian and Swedish usage they describe measurements of land, plots, buildings and other surfaces in maps, cadastre records and real estate descriptions. The most common contemporary arealenhet is the square meter (m^2), the SI unit for area. For larger areas, square kilometers (km^2) and hectares (ha) are widely used. A traditional Scandinavian unit is the are, equal to 100 m^2; and 1 hectare equals 100 ares.
