Arab American refers to a person of Arab ethnic origin residing in the United States. The term "Arab" itself encompasses individuals from a wide range of countries in the Middle East and North Africa, including but not limited to Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, and Sudan. The Arab American population is diverse, with significant differences in cultural practices, religious affiliations, and national origins among its members.

Immigration from Arab countries to the United States has occurred in several waves, with distinct periods of increased arrivals influenced by economic opportunities, political instability, and social conditions in their home countries. Early immigrants often settled in major urban centers, establishing communities and contributing to various sectors of American society. Over time, Arab Americans have become integrated into the fabric of the United States, participating in all aspects of professional, cultural, and civic life.

The Arab American community is not monolithic in its religious beliefs; adherents include Christians, Muslims, Jews, and Druze, among others.
