Anumastikal is a fictional coastal city-state that appears in fantasy literature and tabletop role-playing settings. It is depicted as the political and commercial heart of the Anumastikal Confederacy, located on the western coast of the imagined archipelago of Njarra in the continent of Myria. The city is described as a cosmopolitan hub, where merchants, sailors, scholars, and artisans mingle at a busy harbor and market district.

Origin of the name: The name is said to derive from elements in two fictional languages, signifying sky and harbor, though the exact etymology varies across sources.

Historically, Anumastikal is said to have risen as a trading post in the early medieval era, benefiting from a natural harbor and shipyards. It experienced a golden age during the late medieval to early modern period, funded by spice and timber trade. It faced periodic conflicts and plague, leading to cycles of decline and renewal. In many narratives, it becomes a center for cultural exchange and learning, hosting writers and navigators.

It is governed by a council of guild representatives and a mayor, with decisions made at an annual assembly. The confederacy emphasizes guild autonomy, maritime law, and public markets.

Anumastikal is known for the Festival of Tides, distinctive carpentry and weaving, and a dialect of the Anum language spoken alongside common tongue. The economy traditionally relied on port trade, shipbuilding, and craft goods; in contemporary portrayals, tourism and cultural heritage form a major sector.
