Antialérgicos, also known as antihistamines, are a class of drugs that treat allergy symptoms. Allergies occur when the body's immune system overreacts to a normally harmless substance, called an allergen. Common allergens include pollen, dust mites, pet dander, and certain foods. When exposed to an allergen, the body releases histamine, a chemical that causes many of the classic allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching, runny nose, and watery eyes.
