Anionisena

Anionisena is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, commonly known as the daisy family. The genus was described in 1995 and currently contains a single recognized species, Anionisena cryptica. This species is native to the Andes Mountains of South America, specifically found in Peru and Bolivia.

Anionisena cryptica is a small, herbaceous perennial plant that typically grows to a height of about 15-30 centimeters. It has a rosette of basal leaves that are lanceolate to ovate in shape and can be hairy. The plant produces solitary flower heads on slender stalks. These flower heads are characteristic of the Asteraceae family, featuring ray florets that are typically white or pale pink and disc florets that are yellow. The flowering period usually occurs during the summer months.

The habitat of Anionisena cryptica is typically found in alpine meadows and rocky slopes at high elevations, often above 3000 meters. It thrives in well-drained soils and prefers full sun exposure. Due to its limited geographic distribution and specialized habitat, Anionisena cryptica is considered a rare plant, though its conservation status has not been formally assessed by major conservation organizations. Further research is needed to fully understand its ecological requirements and population dynamics.
