Anatómiában is a term that can refer to a few different concepts, primarily related to the field of anatomy. In a general sense, it is the study of the structure of living organisms. This encompasses the examination of organs, tissues, cells, and their components, as well as the relationships between them. Anatomy is a foundational science for many medical disciplines, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, and physical therapy.

Within the broader field of anatomy, there are several sub-disciplines. Gross anatomy, also known as macroscopic anatomy, deals with the study of anatomical structures that can be seen with the naked eye. This often involves dissection and visual inspection of bodies or body parts. Microscopic anatomy, on the other hand, focuses on structures that require magnification, such as cells and tissues, and is further divided into histology (the study of tissues) and cytology (the study of cells).

Anatomical knowledge is acquired through various methods. Historically, dissection of cadavers has been a primary tool. Today, imaging techniques like X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and ultrasound provide non-invasive ways to visualize internal structures. Comparative anatomy examines the similarities and differences in the anatomy of different species, which is crucial for understanding evolutionary relationships and biological principles. Developmental anatomy, or embryology, studies the structural changes that occur from conception to birth.
