Analogsetes
Analogsetes is a genus of extinct ray-finned fish that lived during the Late Jurassic period. These fish are known from fossilized remains found in marine sedimentary rocks, primarily in Europe. Analogsetes are characterized by their deep, laterally compressed bodies and relatively large fins. Their dentition suggests a diet of small invertebrates or possibly algae.
The phylogenetic placement of Analogsetes within the teleostean fishes has been a subject of scientific study.
Fossils of Analogsetes are relatively rare, and complete skeletons are uncommon, making detailed anatomical studies challenging.
