Amplitúdók

Amplitúdók (Hungarian for "amplitudes") are a Hungarian indie folk band formed in Budapest in 2002. The group consists of Attila Tóth (guitar, vocals), Bertalan Farkas (cello, backing vocals), Tamás Dancs (percussion, backing vocals), and Csongor Nádas (bass guitar).

Their music is characterized by a unique blend of folk, rock, and pop elements, often incorporating traditional Hungarian instruments and lyrics. Amplitúdók's sound is marked by soaring vocal melodies, intricate instrumental arrangements, and a strong emphasis on vocal harmonies.

The band released their debut album, "Egy Magyar Bohém", in 2004, which gained significant attention in Hungarian music circles. Their subsequent releases, including "Amplitúdók" (2007) and "Liszt & Gyumolcs" (2010), further solidified their reputation as one of Hungary's leading indie folk ensembles.

Throughout their career, Amplitúdók has been praised for their energetic live performances, which often feature complex instrumental arrangements and driving rhythms. The band has also been recognized for their contributions to Hungarian music education, having given workshops and lectures on traditional music and instrumentation.

Amplitúdók's distinctive sound has been compared to that of other European folk-rock ensembles, such as Baum and the Hillbilly Moon Explosion. Despite having a dedicated fan base in Hungary, the band has yet to achieve significant international recognition. Nonetheless, their commitment to experimenting with traditional Hungarian music and culture has made them an important and influential force in the country's independent music scene.
