Amplitudová

Amplitudová is an adjective used in Czech to describe phenomena, quantities or processes related to amplitude—the magnitude of a periodic oscillation or wave. It appears in technical terms such as amplitudová modulace, amplitudová charakteristika or amplitudová frekvenční charakteristika, and serves to distinguish amplitude-related properties from other aspects like phase or frequency.

In physics and engineering, amplitude denotes the maximum displacement of a wave from its equilibrium position. For a harmonic motion, the amplitude A determines the strength or loudness of the signal; in electrical and audio contexts, it is commonly measured in volts or meters and may vary with time. The energy of a wave is typically related to the square of its amplitude, making amplitude a central parameter in many analyses.

Concretely, amplitudová modulace (AM) is a method of conveying information by varying the amplitude of a carrier wave while its frequency remains fixed. It has been widely used in broadcast radio and certain communication systems, with demodulation often performed by envelope detection. In signal processing, the amplitudová charakteristika or amplitude response describes how a system scales input signal amplitudes across frequencies, while the related phase response describes timing shifts.

Etymology derives from Latin amplitude, meaning breadth or extent. In Czech technical usage, amplitudová forms part of common compound terms across physics, electronics and communications to specify amplitude-related characteristics.
