Amorphs

Amorphs are a fictional species originating from the Animorphs book series by K.A. Applegate. They are extraterrestrial beings capable of morphing into any living organism they have acquired genetic material from. This ability is central to their role as a resistance force against the Yeerks, an alien parasitic species that controls its hosts through brain invasion. Amorphs possess a sophisticated understanding of biology and genetics, which allows them to execute complex morphing sequences.

The primary Amorph characters are the protagonists of the series, a group of teenagers who are granted the power to morph by a dying Yeerk-hating alien named Elfangor. They use their abilities to fight the Yeerk invasion covertly, as direct confrontation would be impossible due to the Yeerks' superior numbers and control over human society. Amorphs are able to maintain their morphs for a limited time, typically two hours, after which they must return to their Andalite (their natural form) or risk being trapped in their current morph.

The Andalites, the Amorphs' natural species, are centaur-like aliens with four legs, a prehensile tail, and a pair of antannae that house their eyes. They possess a unique ability called "thought-speak," which allows them to communicate telepathically. While all Andalites can morph, the term "amorph" is often used in the context of the human teenagers who have been granted morphing ability by Elfangor. The Amorphs' struggle against the Yeerks highlights themes of war, sacrifice, and the loss of innocence.
