Elfangor

Elfangor is a fictional alien character from the Animorphs series of young adult science fiction novels by K. A. Applegate. He is a member of the Andalite species, a sentient, horse-like alien race with a single eye-stalk on their forehead, capable of morphing into other living creatures. Elfangor is a skilled warrior and a prince of the Andalite homeworld.

In the early novels of the series, Elfangor plays a pivotal role. He is the first alien the main characters encounter, and it is he who introduces them to the concept of alien invasion and the necessity of fighting the parasitic Yeerks. Elfangor is responsible for granting the five human teenagers, Jake, Rachel, Tobias, Cassie, and Marco, the ability to morph. He bestows this power upon them just before his death, entrusting them with the mission to save Earth from Yeerk conquest.

Elfangor's sacrifice is a significant event that motivates the Animorphs throughout their struggle. His wisdom and teachings, often imparted through visions or memories, continue to guide the team. Despite his demise, his legacy endures as he is seen as a fallen hero and a symbol of hope and resistance against the Yeerk Empire. His actions set in motion the entire conflict of the Animorphs series.
