Ammuntaaine

Ammuntaaine is a Finnish term that translates to "propellant" in English. It refers to a substance or mixture of substances that produces a large volume of rapidly expanding gases when ignited. This rapid expansion of gas creates pressure, which is the driving force behind many applications, most notably in firearms.

In firearms, ammuntaaine is typically a form of gunpowder, which is a low explosive. When the primer in a cartridge is struck, it ignites a small amount of primary explosive, which in turn ignites the propellant.
