Amethi

Amethi is a city and a municipal board in the Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Historically, it was the seat of the princely state of the same name. The district of Amethi was carved out of the erstwhile Sultanpur district in 1983.

The city is situated in the Awadh region of Uttar Pradesh. Its geographical location is approximately 26.13 degrees North latitude and 77.92 degrees East longitude. Amethi experiences a semi-arid climate with hot summers and cool winters. The nearest major city and railway hub is Lucknow.

Amethi has been a significant political constituency, famously associated with the Nehru-Gandhi family for many years. Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi have all represented Amethi in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament.
