Alphastrahlern

Alphastrahlern is a municipality in the central highlands of the fictional country of Veridia. It lies along the Strahl River, about 60 kilometers from the national capital. The name’s origin is uncertain, but it reflects the town’s historic role as a river crossing.

The municipality covers about 40 square kilometers and sits at elevations of 700 to 1,200 meters. The climate is temperate, with cool winters and mild summers and relatively even rainfall.

Alphastrahlern originated as medieval mining settlements and expanded in the early modern era. In 1740 it was consolidated from three villages under a single administration. Industrialization in the 19th century introduced metalworking and woodworking, shaping the local economy.

As of 2022, about 8,400 residents lived in Alphastrahlern. Local government consists of a municipal council and a mayor; it participates in Veridia’s district governance.

The economy centers on precision engineering, metalworking, and wood products, supplemented by small-scale agriculture and services. The town hosts the Alphastrahlern Institute for Applied Sciences, a regional training center, and supports several small manufacturers.

Cultural life includes a biennial Alphastrahlern Festival featuring crafts, music, and cuisine. Education is provided by two primary schools and one secondary school; there is a local library and community center.

Transport relies on regional rail and a ring road linking to major highways. The nearest airport is in the capital, about an hour away by car.
